JavaScript in address bar, trick to make images in a web page dance

January 30th, 2008 Ajith Posted in Web 5 Comments »

I recently found this funny JavaScript code which will make the Images on any page go in a ring like dance. I got it through an e-mail forward, so I don’t know whom to credit. All you have to do is
1. Go to an Image rich page (eg:search for flowers in Google Images)

2. Paste the following Javascript code in the address bar and press ENTER (GO).

Copy this script and paste on adress bar:

What happens :

Make images in a page with JavaScript inserted from the above box
Let us examine the script to know what happens. In all the Browsers if a JavaScript code is embedded in the adress bar it can be executed as if it were in the page itself. This has also caused many vulnerabilities. That is a long story so lets come back.

The JavaScript makes an Array DI with all images as objects, then finds the number of images in the page and goto a loop which will change the position of the images one by one to a position given by the X and Y cordinates DIS.left=Math. sin(R*x1+ i*x2+x3)* x4+x5 nad DIS.top=Math. cos(R*y1+ i*y2+y3)* y4+y5}R++ }setInterval( ‘A()’,5); This goes on and we see the images going in a bend dumbbell.

Send personalized mail using Fuzzmail

January 28th, 2008 Ajith Posted in Web No Comments »

Fuzzmail is a mail service which allows you to send “personalized” mails to your friends and family. It doesn’t require registration for use. On the home page Fuzzmail has got the From, To, Subject and the Message fields only. You can type message and send the mail to your friends, but when the recipient see the mail it is some what different from normal mail.. Thats why Fuzzmail becomes is said as a personalized mail. The recipient will see the mail just the way you typed it in the message field. It show the speed each character was typed all the corrections you had made and all the pauses you made while typing. In a way it is almost like a screen text recorder. What I do is what he sees.

How is this done? You can see from the source that Fuzzmail has got Javascript and all you type is saved in the Javascript arrays, all including the corrections and the speed is saved and this is used to show the viewer how you typed the mail. Send you children some fuzzmail and have fun it is useful for no other purpose.

Can GMail be hacked - read this

January 17th, 2008 Ajith Posted in Web No Comments »

GMail has become popular ever since it was out for the public and Google has kept their promises to us all. Ever since the time when GMail become public there were a number of value additions done to it. But one of the basic questions everybody needs an answer is - Can GMail be hacked?

Well for once it can be hacked. I don’t know whether the story is true or not but I am asking the GMail team itself. In the story they tell us about a hack in which, if we open a malacious page while we are logged in to GMail, the code on the site may create a filter in GMail which forwards some mail. You can read the story in detail in the following locations.
I found it here : David Airey
This is the original post : GNUcitizen.org

I’ll add the response of GMail team afterwards.

Being ignored by Google, your domains past may be haunting you

January 15th, 2008 Ajith Posted in Blogging, Web No Comments »

GoogleHave you ever been in a situation where any of the Google services won’t index you even after months of submitting. There is a fair chance that even if you have got legit articles and valuable links, your site or blog won’t appear on Google. I came to know about this from an article by Chris Webb on getting his blog indexed after being ignored for a long time.

In his case the cause was that the domain name was used for illegal purposes before he obtained it. He searched through the Internet Archive and found out about this. So he submitted his site for reconsideration through Google Webmatertools and was reinexed by Google.

Do I have badware, Google thinks so, so does stopbadware dot com

January 14th, 2008 Ajith Posted in Blogging, Web No Comments »

I never knew I am hosting badware until I saw Google telling me the same. Of late Google has been showing the Badware warning along with results to my site that a visitor may get infected by Malware if they visit my site. As far as I know I have no intention to distribute malware (I don’t know hot to make them nor do I like them) but to run a successful Technology blog.

Google's warning that my site may be hosting badware

So what exactly caused the warning. It turned out that Google gets the badsite database from StopBadware dot org . So I went to the site and searched their database for any inclusion of my site but found none. There is a chance that a site doesn’t show up in their searches so I send them a review request. I think the problem is either in some sites I linked to or the links in the post Unexpected error on your home WP blog’s page. When I copy pasted the error the link to function.main was also copied (I have removed the links). But the report at Google Webmastertools said that the following URLs were in the hit list.
http://www.exnol.com/
http://www.exnol.com/tag/
http://www.exnol.com/web/
http://www.exnol.com/wordpress/
http://www.exnol.com/tag/editing
http://www.exnol.com/web/gmail-has-got-an-advanced-link-editor-like-tinymce
http://www.exnol.com/wordpress/why-is-my-template-selection-page-in-wordpress
-showing-error-or-css-code

Among these there were no common elements, so I think the GMail page and error page should have done the nasty trick for me. But still I couldn’t find out the true reason - so I have send a request to both Google and stopbadware for a review. Lets wait and see. If you some of you have got any idea please contact me
